2001 Silverado Brakes Go To Floor
A bad brake booster.
2001 silverado brakes go to floor. The leak may coming from a brake line or one of the brake calipers on your vehicle. My brakes slowly go to the floor my brakes slowly go to. Axle bearings hold the brake rotor true without play while they both rotate. Attempts checks so far.
Problem is the same as. I just today replaced all rotors and rear pads on my 01 silverado. Here s an additional reason a brake pedal could go all the way to the floor. They pump up firm with the engine off.
The fronts allow pedal travel to about 3 4 of the way to the floor and push fluid but then the pedal stops hard wont go to the floor and the fluid trickles out. My brakes slowly go to the floor with the engine on. My brake pedal goes to the floor when my truck is running i have checked for any visible leaks bled the whole system and installed a new master cylinder. Replaced master cylinder and did a complete brake fluid exchange with a mighty vac.
This problem typically occurs after. One of the reasons is the brake system loses pressure from an external brake fluid leak. I did disconnect the fluid line on the front caliper and the fluid drained out. Mar 26 2012 7 19am.
Don t see any leaks at the wheel cylinders or calipers. 1 leak from brake line or brake caliper. When bleeding rear wheels the pedal will go to the floor when the bleeder is open. If this bearing goes bad it will allow the brake rotor it move back and fourth which pushes the caliper piston back into the caliper creating an air gap.
Technically there are two main causes that would make the brake pedal sink all the way to the floor. Double checked the vacuum lines thinking it might be the booster however the booster would make the brakes harder to push not softer and there weren t any issues with the lines. The fluid had gone from clear to iced tea color in the months since i flushed it. Go get a remanufactured caliper they are really not that badly priced install it and bleed the brakes.
There are no visible leaked and the reservoir was completely full. Brake pedal going to the floor but no fluid leak. Pressure on the brake fluid cases the brakes to be applied to the wheels. The back brakes are low but in good condition not like the fronts at all.
The final reason for a brake pedal to go to the floor is failing axle bearing. No change brakes still go to the floor they still work but they start working in the last 10 or so of pressing the pedal.
